Here is a list of what we plan on using for the 2013-2014 school year!

Math:  Saxon Math 1

History/Geography:  Road Trip USA by Confessions of a Homeschooler and The Star-Spangled State Book and Workbook by Knowledge Quest; Evan-Moor Beginning Geography

Reading:  Finish up AAR Level 1, if necessary.  Move on to AAR Level 2 (and maybe Level 3).

Science:  Apologia Exploring Creation with Zoology 1 with Jr. Notebook

Bible:  Explorer’s Bible Study Beginnings 1 – Precious in His Sight

Handwriting:  Handwriting Without Tears My Printing Book; various copy work

Writing:  WriteShop Primary A with workbook

Other:  Linguistic Development through Poetry Memorization by Institute for Excellence in Writing.  We should be on Level 2 this year.

Art:  Artistic Pursuits K-3 Level Book 1.  How to Teach Art to Children (Evan-Moor).

Pe/Health:  Family Time Fitness

Spanish:  Repeat Sonrisas Spanish Level 1.  It is recommended to repeat all levels to ensure fluency.

Literature:  Our read-alouds for the year include:  Lentil, A New Coat for Anna, The Story About Ping, Madeline, James Herriot’s Treasury for Children, The Complete Tales of Beatrix Potter, House at Pooh Corner, Strega Nona, The Gingerbread Baby, The Five Chinese Brothers, Paddington, Boxcar Children Book 1, How I Became a Pirate, The Ox-Cart Man, Alice in Wonderland, Stuart Little, Matilda, How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World, When I was Young in the Mountains, Mary Poppins, Katy and the Big Snow, and Miss Romphius.  We will also require that Jasmine begin silent reading this year.  We will keep a log of what she reads, but will only supervise choices, not make them.
